Spicy Salty Chocolate Mousse

The surprisingly healthy dessert

Sweet, spicy, and salty!? I don’t know if a better trifecta exists. Oh wait, and there is chocolate involved? Now we are freaking talking. This is one of my favorite desserts to serve at a dinner party because not only is it insanely quick and easy to make, but it also is shockingly healthy. Gluten free, dairy free, filled with healthy and beneficial ingredients (hello collagen and avocado), and sweetened simply by honey and cacao powder.

Ingredients:

  • Avocado (1)
  • Chocolate bar (1/2) – I prefer Hu Kitchen or Eating Evolved; find one with low to no sugar
  • Cacao powder (1 spoonful)
  • Spicy honey (1 spoonful) – I used Mike’s hot honey
  • Collagen peptides (1 scoop)
  • Coconut oil (1 spoonful)
  • Almond milk (1 tablespoon)
  • Sea salt

Directions:

  1. Place the ½ of the chocolate bar in a microwavable safe bowl, add in a spoonful of coconut oil, and microwave until melted
  2. Add 1 avocado, melted chocolate, spoonful of cacao powder, spoonful of spicy honey, scoop of collagen peptides, and tablespoon of almond milk to the food processor
  3. Continuously pulse on high until mixed and forms a smooth consistency
  4. Scoop the mousse into a serving bowl and top with the sea salt flakes
